Red Rocks

Red Rocks – Altitude 6,200 ft.
The Reed bros knew I was interested in hiking but also new to it all, so Brian decided to take me to Red Rocks first to see how I was going to do with the change in altitude. Since these guys spent years and years in Florida they had a fair idea of what I was in for.

We didn’t even do a trail, he took me to the top of the amphitheater and I had to make repeated stops to catch my breath. It was so weird, like I weighed 500 more pounds than I do and like my rib cage was being bear hugged. It took a while but I got there and got to enjoy the view…

Red Rocks.

We saw a bunch of people exercising there, including folks jogging, which made me want to barf just seeing it. Brian and I had a good time making fun of runners (sorry Becky and Erynne :) ) and then had the near-instant karma of having a brief but brutal thunderstorm sweep in which made us look at each and yell, “RUN!” We hightailed it down, cold and wet but safe enough.
